i live in norcal can i leave my venus fly trap outside? will it grow well? should i leave it outside during the winter dormancy or is it to cold?

Your VFT should do fine outdoors as long as it's given sufficient hours of full sun, the growing medium kept moist, and it isn't subject to freezing during the winter. If the area you live in has freezing or below freezing temps, I suggest you bring your plant inside for its dormancy.
Before you put your plant outside, give it some time to adjust. Gradually introduce it to outdoor conditions and direct sunlight so it won't get sunburn. Good luck!
