My flytrap (a typical from a local hardwarestore) has recently been growing two seemingly fused traps on the same leaf and I am curious if anyone ever encountered something similair?

I see! :0 Thats very cool. Is the mutation gonna draw energy from the plant or is it okay to leave it?

Oh, very neat! Are they functional?

If a part of the plant is photosynthesizing, it's extremely unlikely to draw more energy than it gives. A faulty trap here and there won't hurt a flytrap. Heck, there are cultivars whose traps are all faulty, by nature's standards, and those plants do well enough in cultivation.

@Fishkeeper, @Fishkeeper, Good to know! : D
I don't wanna stimulate them without a reason but both traps have sensor hairs so my guess is that they should.
I do wonder if an insect could maybe crawl to the joint and into the sister trap to escape but for now I will see how they develop.
Probably gonna put another update in here once I see one of them closed
