I have flower stalks growing on my VFTs and so on my saw tooth one, i cut it before it grew too much, and put it in water. will it sprout roots if its in water?

The flower stalk doesn't sprout roots. Instead, it sprouts buds that grow into little flytraps.

Put the cut end of the stalk in some wet sphagnum moss and be patient. In my experience, only 1 stalk out of every 3-5 will strike (produce buds), and it may take 2 or 3 months before you see this happen. If the stalk turns black all the way down to the soil, then it didn't work.
