Thanks. And does he mean that you can keep them growing year round indoors with no dormancy? I thought that dormancy was absolutely necessary.

Same, I need some clarification.

Before we all go down that rabbit hole ... again, it is possible to keep flytraps growing indoors year round. The debate is as to whether it is the original plant or that it spawns divisions. There are staunch advocates on both sides of the argument.

So what should I do then, give it fridge dormancy or keep it there?

Personally, I would do a fridge dormancy. To grow them year round you need to invest in very good lights and be committed to constant supplementary feeding. You need to maintain them in an active growing state constantly.

I stopped helping people who insist on growing them indoors. Some people just have to learn the hard way. I'm tired of arguing about it.

Why, it's possible with grow lights

I'm growing mine under grow lights because we won't have a sunny deck but I'd definitely prefer outdoors.

Some people have success with convincing flytraps to be "on" year-round, while other people watch their plants get weaker and weaker before finally dying.

Wild flytraps get a 3-4 month dormancy every year, part of their natural lifecycle. As far as I'm concerned, cultivated plants should get this, too.
