Firstly, Merry Christmas everyone! I decided to break out my macro setup to take a few photos.

1) D. micrantha cranbrook gemmae which I got from the seedbank, it has germinated after just 3 days

Just to be complete for your subject line, great job by ESA to launch the James Webb Telescope for NASA and the world. Trust me, if this thing works, it will change the way humanity sees life.

I got up early this morning just to watch the launch. Unfortunately there was so much clouds after like 5 seconds you couldn’t see it anymore and they just showed a 3d rendering. Let’s hope every thing unfolds correctly in the next months

I honestly thought this thread would be about the James Webb Telescope launch based on the title.

It's pretty wild, my memory of it is pretty hazy but I remember some documentary, maybe NOVA or something like that, from probably about a decade ago that talked about plans to deorbit Hubble somewhere around 2014 iirc as they expected JW to be ready soon after. Now here we are nearly into 2022 and JW is just getting off the ground and Hubble is still functional. Whatever that was I watched, it ended up aging like milk.
