Good evening friends.
I have a buddy that's very much into succulents, so much that he is looking into indoor grow spaces and artificial lighting.
I know many of you are also into succulents as well as the far superior carnivorous plants.
Can anyone point me to a good light for succulents that he might look into as a possibility for expanding his collection?
Thanks for any suggestions you may give.

Succulents have a wide range of light requirements. What does he want to grow?

He has a broad range of stuff, I don't think he's pinned it down yet. It's more because his collection of succulents is getting too big to move inside for the winter. (Just like our bug eaters)
I was just wondering of there is a general light that might be good for a range of them.

Most of my succelents prefer full sun. They also do well in partial sun.
Depending on the light level, succelents will change the color of their leaves (full sun creates redder colors, partial shade makes succelents greener).

There are literally thousands of species of succulents. Most of them prefer to grow in full sun. A lot of them insist on full sun. On the other hand, popular genera like Haworthia, Faucaria and Schlumbergera do fine with much less and are happier in bright shade. I think your buddy should decide what he wants to grow first and then figure what lights (if any!) will do the job.

You might want to do "indoor lighting" search on Cactiguide for some ideas: http://www.cactiguide.com/forum
