Hello everyone! I have been searching around for a community that is specifically for Flytraps and I was lucky enough to stumble across this one. The main reason I wanted to join was one because I am very new to the plant community and two because I needed support this last two months, as my plant started to flower and I really wasn't sure what was the best path to take when it came to cutting the stalk. I am really excited to have a safe place to communicate and ask questions when needed.

Thanks for having me! :D

Welcome to the forum. Check out the plant guide at flytrapcare.com. it will tell you just about everything you need. Anything else, ask away!

Let me summarize briefly the keys to growing flytraps successfully.
1. Soil - pure sphagnum moss or 50/50 peat perlite. Make sure there are no fertilizers and do not use Miracle-Gro. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Flytraps do not like their roots sitting in water .
2 Water - distilled, RO or rain water is best. You can use your tap water if it is measured and has less than 50ppm dissolved solids (tds). You can also check into getting a Zero Water Pitcher.
3. Light - this is probably the toughest one for most people. Flytraps need 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight or equivalent. Light through a window doesn't count as direct as the window reflects some of the energy. Many people do grow the with grow lights but that is beyond my knowledge.

I hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum!
I mostly grow Drosera (Sundews) so I won't directly answer your question.
But Matt the ADMIN here is a FlyTrap master.
He posted some care and feeding pages at www.flytrapcare.com
