So last afternoon as I was checking on my plants in my chest freezer, I removed all the thermostats. This is a pretty normal occurrence, and it allows me to get a better look at my plants and I can take them out from the freezer more easily. Every time I do this, I tell myself, "remember to put the thermostat back in. Remember to put the thermostat back in." Well, when I left, I didn't put the thermostat back in. The night temperature set on my thermostat is 55 degrees. It never gets below 65 at night in the basement where the the chest freezer is. Needless to say, the freezer kept running basically all night long, and when I came back down this morning I found that the temperature reached 14 degrees fahrenheit in the freezer.
I had around 40 species, my most finicky and prized species, in that freezer. It's going to take me a while to process this, so I just wanted to let everyone know that I will probably be away from the forums for a bit.
