I am requesting some D. Capensis seeds from the seed bank and I am wondering, can these be germinated outside in the sun or maybe shade? or is it safer to germinate indoors under a cfl grow light (which I do not own)? I live here in South Carolina so the day temps can easily reach in the 90's and lows into the 60's. The humidity varies anywhere from 30% up to 90% if a storm is coming in.

Also, yes, I do know the basics of D. capensis germination.

They don't need light to germinate. But once germinated, outside in open shade is good. Tiny seedlings are pretty delicate. Full direct sun can dry out the top level of media and zap seedlings if not there's not enough water.

Good growing,

They do not need any special conditions to germinate, as long as it's above freezing temperatures. Drosera capensis are like weeds and can grow in pretty much anything and spread really quick. They're a very durable plant :)
