hello everyone,
recently I started working with LEDS,
I purchased a generic brand first, and
was told it would not have much effect on my plants,
then i went through ebay i got a red and blue LED DROP lamp,
i noticed after about 5 minutes that it started hurting my eyes
so i moved it to a separate spot from my other plants,
my question is .. has anybody had any negative reaction to your LEDS " eye related "
or just your grow lights in general?

If you stare at it for long enough, or even directly (if they're powerful enough LEDs), yeah. It hurts your eyes.

That's the main reason I don't use the red/blue fixtures. It's not necessarily the brightness that's the problem, but the color.

They don't hurt my eyes but when you first get them, they will throw off your eyes for a while. You get used to it after a while. I even have several in my bedroom and they no longer bother me.

I find its best to turn them off if you are trying to visually judge if plants need to be watered or need to closely inspect the plants.

Just don't stare directly at the lights.

No one one is talking about staring into the lights Tannerm.

I have a 300 blue/red marshydro led right next to me on top of my terrarium all the time and it doesn't bother me

It completely breaks your colour perception at first. Then you get used to it, and you actually can not notice the purpleness, instead, you see it as strong light source. Colours are still off, but not nearly as much as they should be. Try taking a photo under those lights and see the colour. When at the beginning when you get introduced to such light, you leave the room, or switch it off, you can see normal colours completely wrong, because your brains try hard to auto-correct the issue and you have the same filter applied for a while it goes away quickly and with time, the problem is no longer there.
Just in case, I would not recommend having such lights in your working / living environment.
