Ive had this for awhile (maybe a few months), but i decided to tear it down and weather coat it today with some walnut colored water seal before the seasons change and rot the wood. Basically using the tray method (with holes that i drilled all around the lower helf of the tub)but in a larger setting using (1) 105QT tub i bought at walmart. In a couple of weeks i will turn it sideways and add another 102QT tub to fill the plastic lined frame completely. I installed a drain valve on the bottom that i can close to hold water, or open to drain water to make it easy on me when i have to clean out debris, larvae, etc and to add fresh clean water and it works great. Also not in the pictures yet, there is a 1in overflow pipe about halfway up in the back to keep the garden from losing soil and washing my plants away in flooding rain storms. The water level never gets over halfway so that is great!. Its really nice to have and i dont have to babysit it. I also put a cover with hinges that has shadecloth on it for the really hot Texas summers for those 105F+ days. I just closed it this summer and gave my plants filtered light when they were stressed. It worked great this summer, though i really didnt spend much time planting anything in it yet (other than a couple small vfts, and a s.alata) due to tending to my other outdoor in-ground bogs. This was an experimental bog, as i had a bunch of leftover 2x4s from a building project i was doing and alot of spare time on my hands. The potted plants in the pics will all be planted in here next spring in the soil in the tub , but i am going to let dormancy for these plants occur just like they are right now in their pots this winter (insulated first of course!), as i didnt want to disturb any roots by planting them in the tub this close to the Fall season. Before we start getting alot of sleet and snow, i am going to install a plexiglass cover for the lid so that i dont have to worry about covering it with a blanket in fear of freezing my plants out and still give them sun light through the seasons..yes it was a pain in my butt to make, but for an old man such as myself it does the trick..
