By day, I mean one full light/dark cycle which is normally 24 hours. But have you heard of or performed experiments with plants under shorter or longer than 24 hour days? For example 12 hr light, 4 hours dark, or 36 hr light, 20 hr darkness. It would be analogous to trying to grow the plants on another planet. I'd be somewhat surprised if plants liked it, but it would be interesting if any did. Of course, I'm curious how flytraps, specifically, would do with it as well.

I know Sarracenia can be grown under 24/7 light, though I don't know how long you could keep that up - with no dormancy trigger they can only survive so long. As for an artificial day length, it's hard to say. I suspect tropical plants and annuals would have an easier time with it.
