Ask questions about how to grow and care for Venus Flytraps

Hi everyone,

Some of my Venus Fly Traps have started growing very small traps. This started occurring about 4 weeks ago. They appear to be actively growing at the moment. They receive full outside sun and appear to be healthy (at least to me, happy to be corrected though). Their new traps are just much smaller than their previous traps. Here in Adelaide, it's just starting Autumn, so temperatures are down a bit. Daylight length is about 12 hours at the moment, but that will reduce shortly too. I would really appreciate any suggestions as to what might be causing this.

I hadn't even considered that. Thank you for replying.

Could also be getting ready for dormancy...they'll start putting out small leaves in the fall

Considering some of the deciduous trees here are starting to loose their leaves, that's what I was thinking too, Earthy. Then it started worrying me that not all of the VTF's are doing this... yet. If it is because dormancy is coming should I start reducing their water now? For e.g. take them out of their water trays.

As the weather starts getting cooler you will want to take then out if the trays and start adjusting the watering. As they start slowing down then you start slowing down the watering...that's what I did when they started preparing :)
