hi i had bought a venus fly trap about a month and a half ago for the first month it was fine but the leaves started dying could this be because of the flower stem??

If you dont want seeds your better off cutting flower stems, leaves will still die off even in the growing season over time.

New growth looks fine. It's natural for older ones to die

Traps can only close ~5 times before the trapping mechanism fails and the leaf dies. As long as there's still healthy new growth there's nothing to worry about.
