I'm looking for a answer is it ok to use 22 mesh silica sand that's all I can get & as for other stuff I have no idea the names of kinds of rock or sand able to use, I know it has to be inert but what rocks sand are inert ? And what company's id be looking for like eg. Pluming ,pet store, greenhouses, horticulture places ???? Oh ya & is horticulture sand ok to use too ? Please help !!

Larger grain sand is better. We use 12 grit and have used 20 with success.

Thanks Matt I want bigger but i can't find & I don't know what types or names of inert rock I can use & what was your ratio with the 20. Mesh sand ?

Our ratio with the 20 grit was the same: 5 parts peat, 3 parts sand, 2 parts perlite

Did you have to repot sooner ? Did you have problems with compacting ?

12 grit means how much in mm ?
