I am actually want a few new plants but keeping my big one in good condition. what is the best way then?
would the flower exhaust all its live stock?

The amount of flowering can be different between VFT varieties. Some of mine have already shot up 3 flower stalks and some have just begun to flower.

I would honestly let it grow about another inch or so and cut it off. It is not difficult to grow VFTs from seed but it takes years before you even get a plant that is of decent size. Although cutting off the flower stalk sucks, it is more likely to make the plant divide more and actually gain new genetically identical flytraps. You can also use the cut flower stalk to get more flytraps using the flower stalk propagation technique which can be done in Tissue culture or by planting the stalk.

tell me about the Technique of stalk propagation. Is it like just putting it to the soil and sealing it under the glass?

No, just at the base of the spike. Leave the top section as it is, it'll die back on its own. I've cut my flytrap's flower spike a while back and that's exactly what it did. So far no strikes yet, but the spike is still green, so I'm still hoping for the best.

For mine, I just planted the spike about a half inch deep into a pot of my CP soil mix and it seems to be working just fine.

Just cut off the flower stalk at the base and then plant it and wait.
