Hey Ben,
Haven't heard of using the guitar set to "A" trick yet but you may be on to something?
I have had really good luck with using my electric toothbrush. Sounds a little weird but once the axle in our last "ultrasonic" tooth brush broke, leaving the actual brush head to fly around and bludgeon you as your tried to brush, i snagged the unit and charger itself and took it downstairs to the use with the plants. I really like that without the brush head on the unit you have a hand held means of getting the perfect 1"+ SS metal end into the flower area and watch the pollen pour.
Different setting and not having to re-strike the fork make this an easy sell for me. Not sure if you have an electric toothbrush but if you do, i highly recommend giving it a shock!
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
