I was going through some images and to my surprise I found a picture describing a VFT in its summer nap. What is that? I've read a lot about VFTs and this never came to my attention. This 'nap' would actually explain the pause in growth which my main VFT took and lasted for about a month. It's growing healthy again but at first I thought it was just doing bad and dying. Can someone explain what this nap is and why it occurs? Thanks.

A summer nap is when a flytrap did not receive enough time to rest during dormancy, so instead of waking up in spring they may take a "nap" that can last up to a couple of months. I have some plants that took a summer nap and emerged from dormancy only a few weeks ago :)

Thanks for your reply. If a plant takes a nap during summer and this nap can last for several months as you posted, it means that in some cases it is almost good bye for healthy and satisfying active growing season :)

Once they emerge from their summer nap, they usually have a growth spurt that will produce many small leaves. Even though they are behind, they will come back strong :)

true, a lot of leaves have just appeared and that made me really happy... I have a germinating chamber with my own seeds. I'm wondering how many of them are gonna germinate.

That's a great sign and good luck with the seeds :)
