Hi, I am new to the forum and just ordered a venus flytrap. I know they are native to NC, and I live in TN. My question is, since we have a very similar climate to NC, can this plant grow outdoors, or is there anything special I need to do for it to keep it healthy?

Hello and welcome to flytrapcare!

You should be fine growing them outdoors, but there are a few things you might want to check out to learn the basics of taking care of flytraps.

These links provide the base information for taking care of a flytrap, you should read them over and if you have any questions you can post them here on the forum :)

Welcome to FlytrapCare!

pieguy already gave you some good information and provided links to articles that should be read.

With regards to growing outdoors, the only time you'd likely have to worry about protecting them is during the winter months. I grow flytraps outside year round in Ashland, OR, but I use extremely large pots to ensure that they don't freeze solid. I don't know were in TN you live, but if you get extended freezes during the winter months, you'll have to figure out a way to prevent the rhizome of the flytraps from freezing solid.
