Out of one seed pod, it can vary a lot. I've gotten as few as one and as many as 30 out of one seed pod. I'd say somewhere between 10 and 20 is normal.

about how big is a pod when it blackens when it has ten seeds?

They're all about the same size...about 5mm to 7mm across.
