Hey, everyone!

I've notice that a few of the new traps on the flytraps are turning brown/black. I'm not sure why. This happens before they open (it hasn't been enough of a growing season yet for them to take off, so nothing has opened yet that has this black tip). On some the black spreads, and the entire trap tip dies. Any ideas as to what is going on? They seem to be moist enough and get lots of light during the day. Maybe it's a temp thing still with the fluctuations? Thank you in advance. I can post a pic if you need. I was hoping the description would be enough that someone might recognize the problem as one they have experienced (ie being too lazy/sick to get the camera, take a picture, load it, load it on website, then paste it in...but in the time to type all that I probably could have done it, huh?)

You can see the tips are brown/black. The maroon shows the entire trap black. The temps have been soooo crazy here, I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. The plants getting ready for spring, just to be whipped back to cold weather. I actually will be bringing them in tonight/tomorrow due to super low temps. Like 24*F low. If there is something you think could cause this that is my fault (water, etc) I will fix it asap. Thanks! Also, all of these plants have healthy tips growing too. It just seems some are dying. :( Overall, they are trying to come out of dormancy! The typicals I have had longer are doing alright, but they are much bigger too.

I am seeing some of the same, yet on other traps/other plants things are ok. Growth is happening here, but very slowly. I've been assuming that it has to do with frost, freezing, and low temps at night generally. Or, maybe a burning from low/below freezing temps at night to bright sunny days...round and round.

I don't know the answer, but those are my guesses. Are your plants outside or otherwise exposed to low temps, frost, etc?

Maybe someone can point us both in the right direction....

Yes, Naja002 they are outside. I just, however, moved them in bc it's just too cold and is going to get colder. Since they started coming out of dormancy, I don't want them to keep getting hit from the cold/frost. I'll move them out on warmer days, but I think they will stay in for the next few. I'm in growing zone 7, so our weather is similar. It makes sense for it to be the weather if we are both having issues. :(
