But maybe more to the point, why do the tropical fish the mysis flakes were intended for need garlic? Unless they like shrimp scampi?

Garlic is used in fish foods as a natural remedy for disease/fungus/repair to slime coat kind of thing. I used to work in the aquarium industry and we even used garlic oil straight in the tanks. Not sure it actually worked, but it's supposed to. Not sure I would use it on cp's as garlic oil is pretty harsh, would probably burn leaves.
