in winter months, the fly traps slow down. sometimes they are seemingly sleep and dont trigger the traps to shut. And i think a trap leaf, not the entire plant, but one leaf only has about 5 trips shut. after that, they are worn out. I have seen older traps be very lazy or not work. And I have had the traps not spring shut in the winter. otherwise, i am not sure what you mean by exhausted.
