I know it's probably best to use right away, but how long can You get away with dispensing, autoclaving the media and then storing them in the baby food jars ready to go? (where all You have to do is put the explant in them).

What about the stock (MS + VIT, etc. w.out Agar)?

I would assume a long time as cultures would be in them for weeks, months, right?

Do You have to refrigerate the dispensed cultures?

I haven't seen anything in the books that talks about shelf life of stocks, etc.

Thanks !

Hej

you can store your autclaved media arround 1 month. Personaly I would use older
if you have stock solutions you can freeze them for a long time
I have many liters of stock solutions in my freezer and this works great.

Okay, thanks !

So on the gelled cultures, You kinda like them to 'settle in' in the fridge for a few Days before Adding the Explant?
Like food, the 'flavors' (ingredients) meld better with a little age?

When it comes time to Use Your frozen stock, do You thaw Your Vitamin, MS stock on the counter, or nuke it?

I usually put the explants in as soon as the gelling is done (or as soon after as I can get to sterilizing the explants). I've saved gelled, unused cultures for a few weeks too though and it doesn't seem to matter much in terms of viability.
