Hi I think I'm might to try and grow some D. Capensis seedlings under lights maybe in a few weeks and I was wondering what kind of light bulbs work best (CFLs? Flourescent? Incandescent?) gotta get prepared lol. And what number of watts work best? Thanks!

sunlight works best. But if you don't have a good window, then CFLs are the best.

Thanks, I have a great southwest facing(I think?) window actually, but during the winter the sun rarely shows out here, So I just wanna give the seedlings a nice head start!

Or you could just do what I do and use natural sunlight haha it's alot cheaper

You should have enough sunlight to get going with this. I have some seedlings on the window sill here germinating and our days are colder and shorter.

never mind, I think I'll go for the splurge. which one do you guys think is the best? and what voltage should I be looking for? red or blue lighting? cfl or 1 watt LED? and what's up with the k on cfl's? confusing...

The only grow light I have is a 130W. It was about $80. Had great results with it for seeds and leaf pullings.

and was that a 130 watt CFL? and do I have to worry about overheating? how many hours of artificial light did you give the plant?

no.. as long as you keep them away enough so they don't over heat, you should be fine. My plants were 6 to 8 inches away. Try another cheap plant first if you're worried.
