As an interesting bit of trivia, the area code for the space coast of FL (Brevard County) used to be 407, which spread into the Orange County area. As the population of Orlando kept growing, it became clear that Brevard County would need its own area code. A suggestion from a local amateur radio operator was to make it 3-2-1 and it was voted on and passed. Why 3-2-1 you might ask ?
