The latest pulling I did is probably the most successful. Here are the steps:

1. Put pulling in very wet and bright conditions. This should maximize the amount of strikes you get.
2. As soon as it seems like there won't be anymore strikes, transplant the pulling into regular VFT growing environment.

They just take off like wild fire! I will have at least 10 plants from this one pulling.

it's where a new plant bud starts. New leaves, roots and everything else starts from there. So the more strikes, the more plants you get :)

When you say very wet and bright do you mean in just water under a light? or in really wet media?

I used really wet dead long fiber sphagnum moss. It was so wet that I think it would have been the same in pure water.

should be no problem. The only downside to peat is that it is black and will absorb some of the available light to one side of the pulling. LFS is quite translucent and the pulling will get bathed in more light.

Also sphagnum produces antiseptic secretions and acidifies the surrounding environment by taking up Ca++, Mg++,... and releasing H+.
These are two properties peat doesn't have.

VFTs love a slightly acidic substrate and antiseptics helps prevent infections to the pull wound.
So IF you have the choice between peat and life sphagnum, use the sphagnum

I'm about to do some flower stalk propagations in distilled water. I'm going to add a little bit of shagnum to make the water more VFT friendly.
