My Drosera binata var multifida decided to bloom and I just had to snap a few shots! :)

This was a plant I had won on one of the giveaways on this forum. Hopefully I can get seeds to donate :)

I think most varieties of binata need 2 different clones to produce seed.

The exception is the T-form which is stocked in the Seed Bank.

But I'd be happy if experience proves me wrong.

Soo.. if one were to cross T Form and Multifida.. would you get a mixture of the forms? I imagine that T-Form is dominant, but the seed would probably show some characteristics of Multivida.. right?

Only one way to find out.

I'd take the pollen from a T-form binata and slather it on the pistil of a Multifida clone.
If you did it the other way around, you'd need a year or two to see if you had hybrid seedlings or selfed T-form offspring.

Just my 2¢ worth.

Beautiful! Mine are in flower too. I was surprised by how fast mine grew, especially after repotting. The flower stalks get unnecessarily long. If mine aren't three feet long, they're close. Take a look:

The t-form I have has yellow flowers, but did not set seed. It was started from seed from the seedbank. I'm waiting for more flowers to get further insight.

Hmm. I also have seeds from seedbank, and germination rate is 96.782% successful, LOL..

Perhaps they need a little help?

I'm going to invest in a paintbrush in the months to come..

Wow..

How old is that Binata before it started flowering?
Three years at least, but I think the more important thing is to give it perfect conditions.

Most t form clones are not self fertile, however there is one t form clone that is self fertile. As far as the other binata forms they are not self fertile and need a genetically different plant to breed with to produce seed.
