Moof there is a solution to most problems yours is simple , as the tubers grown only in our winter ,all you need do is grow them in your summer ,in a cool location , have a friend in the Czech Republic who does this very well , he is with the Darwinia society , do you know of this , I have sent seed and tubers to him and he grows them quite well ,with a little ingenuity of cause , they love sun, but cool conditions ,so a compromise is in order ! but it can be done, may be if I put you in contact with my friend he could explain how he dose it , as we do not get your winters here or any where near it ! ours are very mild, your summers are not so bad for there growing conditions, and hibernate them if possible in your winters.
Seed is treated differently to any other see you know ,stratification is done with heat not cold !!! yer !! as our summers are very hot getting to 40c for some weeks at a time , these seeds are left on the very dry surface of the soils and bakes in the sun , so for stratification of our tuber seed we say, put them under a lamp so the temperature gets to about 30c ,35 is ok too, for at least 3 weeks day time only , for about 4 to 6 hours a day , this will help with the germination of the seed , this apples to D. praefolia , D.whittakeri . D peltata , D. auriculata , D. macranther .ssp.planchonii ,D.whittakkeri ssp aberrans, D.binata ,D. glanduligera and any other south Australian tuber or CP that lives here producing seed , this is not told to any one as here is just a natural occurrence, as when you get the seed the cold part it is all ready happened ,I believe this is where most people have failed in there seed perpetration of some Australian seed germination ,as buying in seed form Australia usually requires different germination procedures , unless you get them for out side Australia ,where they may have adapted to there climatic conditions, but people here just dont think of it because it happens as I just said naturally, and its missed in any written seed perpetration procedures
hope this helps
