My tap water has a tds reading 70-80 ppm, is this an acceptable range for sundews and nepenthes, it has gotten too expensive to water all my plants with distilled water and an RO unit is cost prohibitive as well. It also rarely rains here.

Nepenthes won't mind at all. Sundews will probably do ok though I'd recommend cleaning your water trays regularly and maybe trying to flush the pots out occasionally.

If you can, try a Zerowater Dispenser, to suppliment you Tap water. Actually, with TDS that low, your using the Zerowater the filters would last a lot longer than mine do!
The ZW 30 cup runs about $40.
