Hello everyone!
It has been a while since i have had time to post anything. I am almost excited to know that with winter comes more time indoors. It has been a crazy summer!
Back in may i sowed a large number of VFT seedlings to become more familiar with TCing. I have so much to learn but all in all they are doing well. I have been getting about 3-5% contamination without a flow-hood and low doses of PPM. About 25% the recommended amount (.25ml/L). I hope to get a hood built this winter but time will tell. If i don't build one soon i may succumb to the fumes ... So far it has all been worth it ;)

Here are some of the Kids! All seed grown and of no specific variety... I will start dividing soon, and hardening off this Spring of 2012.

I actually got all of these seedlings from Sam's in Florida in the early Spring, they were all supposed to be the result of "Giant" cultivars. Started with about 120+ seeds... The 60+ jars are whats left but each one is starting to multiply steadily after the 2nd replate.
There have been 3 definite "sawtooth" like plants that have emerged. Each one is a little different. There was also a red sawtooth like plant that popped up but is caught up with another seedling in another jar at the moment. I have yet to pull them apart. None of the seeds were from any Sawtooth VFTs as far as i know.
Yours are one their second replate and coming up quick! Thanks again.

Nice looking pictures?
Why are the last 2 pictures sort of weird looking, I mean, the plant is growing sideways?

I'm not sure why that plant was growing like that, I haven't used any PGRs yet and i placed the plant in the media the same as i do the rest. I will admit that this once unique plant has gone back to its normal growth pattern after another replate. At the time i thought it might be something to keep an eye on. Sorry for the delay :)

It has been a quite a while since i have posted anything on the VFT seeds i started in may of 2011. Its startling to see how fast they grow in vitro, i will also admit that i haven't done much in the way of pruning or trimming the cultures back before replating out of nervousness and fear of contams. It wasn't until last month that i have even divided any of the jars into smaller groups or clumps of plants. So far i haven't noticed any major spells of contamination throughout the jars so i think that in the future the jars will a look a little neater and not so overgrown... Here are some of the biggest traps to come out of the batch so far, plus a couple shots of the heat mat i made for the winter (basic heating cable for aquariums @ 75watts and a thermostat controller to regulate it, also from a previously aquatic setup)... it has been working pretty good since the jars usually fall inline with the cable if you place them right! I didn't want anything that was going to blow hot air around the room and lead to any unnecessary contamination or excessive energy consumption...
