So I was thinking about running a real low flow pump to recirculate the water constantly just like nature. I would use the same size pot underneath and raise the D.C. Pot and run the pump from the bottom changing the water weekly and topping off when needed. Anyone tried this or heard of it before. Anyone see any challenges or negatives to using this method? I live in Northern California.

It has been done by a fair few people with some good threads- but can I find then no.
Fredg does it with solar pumps, shallow trays with a plastic distribution header, overflow and a reservoir.
Couple of links below which might be useful or a springboard to further info.

I have my Darlingtonia set up on youtube. Basically it's a large storage container painted white as a water reservoir and a solar pump. Works pretty well, the main plant is looking good and it has sent out four divisions this summer. I use LF sphagnum mixed with perlite though so that the drainage is good. I think the peat moss/perlite might become a mess since it's not as free-draining.
