Hello!
I noticed that my VFT used to have long thin leaves while it didn't have the best circumstances for growth (lack of sunlight to be exact). Now that it's sunny out, his leaves broadened but also shortened.

I know that VFTs grow shortened leaves when it's cold, but mine is sitting outside in 29°C in broad sunlight so I doubt he's cold.

Related: I noticed that a lot of VFTs have leaves that grow upwards and hold themselves, while mine always had them grow pretty close to the ground. I'm not sure if that's also health related or if it depends on the cultivar.

It depends on health and genetics. They can grow long, skinny leaves when light starved. Mine grow bright green, short, heart-shaped leaves with tiny traps when coming out of dormancy regardless of what cultivar it is. Some cultivars are upright growers and some grow prostrate. During the growing season cultivars like DC XL and King Henry grow upright with long skinny petioles and huge traps. Wally grows close to the ground with short leaves. I have typicals that do both.

I did not expect this to happen, but last year I left some b52s in my dedicated hardening area.

That spot gets full sun until around 2pm and then is shade for the rest of the day.

The group with the mid afternoon shade exhibited prostrate growth and looked similar to what is shown on Predatoryplants website. Meanwhile, the other B52s in full sun displayed a more typical growth pattern.

I think mine is okay, I just thought I'd ask since I found a lot of conflicting info online.

Here he is! I'm not sure what cultivar though, he was sold at my local Obi in less than idea condition (the photo where he's in a small pot was taken an hour or so after I bought him).
