Hi people :)

I'm from Malta and about a month ago I bought a little Venus Flytrap, we affectionately call Chomper :). It is truly a joy to look at indeed.

It has now overgrown it's pot and was about to repot it a few days ago but I was afraid to do so because of what happened soon after.

Thing is it captured what I think is an Asian Hornet (or something similar). It's prey was too big and punctured the trap. It is now rotting and the leaf is getting black.

I am attaching a few photos to give you an idea of the damage.

Can anyone help please, because I am completely at a loss.

(PS if it is of interest to anyone, I also have a small video of the hornet trying to wiggle its way out of the leaf, right after the leaf got punctured.)

Wow your fly trap definitely bit off more than it can chew. Don't worry the trap will die and a new one will soon replace it. Each trap has it's own life cycle once the trap is damaged or spent from closing more than a few times it will die off this is normal and will not effect the overall health of the plant. Great looking plant by the way. You can go ahead an repot it but dont get stung by that hornet lol.

No problem and welcome to the forum. Keep an eye when you repot looks like you will have some divisions.
