Its been much hotter here than usual lately, like between 100°f-105°. We aren't sure what is wrong with our columbines and bleeding hearts. It could be anything feom heat, bugs, dissease, etc. This is a stem cut from one of the columbines. ImageImage

I'll have to get some tomorrow. The leaves down at the bottom are fine, but the tall stems all look like this with no flowers or leaves

Not an expert by any means, but they need to be in well drained soil, but kept moist not soaked all the time. If it is extremely hot and they dried out a little then the foliage will die back. Hopefully, this helps and someone more knowledgeable then me will help!

I'm not making any promises, but it looks a lot like early blight. I fight it almost every year.
Basically you cut off all of the worst affected parts and get it out of your yard. Then spray your plants down with an antifungal. If you don't like using chemicals there is a product called Serenade that is organic and OMRI certified.
You can also take a sample to your local extension service if you have one close by or them them a call. They should be able to help you out.
