I'll delete this as soon as I get an answer, I hate spamming.

I have an electric bill of 33 per month for my 1 led, and 5 t5 fixtures.

Equaling 174 watts.

Now let's assume all bulbs were switched to led, would my monthly lower?

It will depend on the actual wattage of whatever LED setup you buy. For example, Marshydro has a system that is listed as 300w, but actual usage is ~132w. So for that system, you'd take 132w x the hours you keep it on x the cost per watt in your area to get he actual cost to your electricity bill.

The cost of driving electricity to an equivalent LED system to your T5s is less. So if you were to buy LED replacement T5-bulbs, yes it would cost less because the LEDs would have lower wattage requirement to run.

My led bulb is hortilux. 25 watts.
So wouldn't that make the bill higher?

I'm confused, sorry.

My setup is just standard plug in t5, no timer or anything fancy.

Ok. So you will have to go look at your t5 bulbs and see how many watts they use.

Let's just go and assume they use something like 50 watts each.

You just told me your LED bulbs are 25 watts.

25watts/50watts = 0.5, so the cost of running your same setup with these 25w LED bulbs will be 50% what your current bill is.

The bill says 54.
I called my power Company consumers energy, she said the cost fluctuates monthly by how much we use, sound about right?

The t5 bulbs I have are 24 watt, the led I bought is 25

I've done the math assuming that 54 for the month of January is right.

There's all sorts of things obviously plugged in at our house, how can I tell exclusively just what my bulbs are costing them.

I did the math with my 174 watts, 33 a month, does that sound reasonable for 12 hours a day?

I just don't want to feel so guilty if j can't prove it's my grow lights making a impact that much, you know?

What am I supposed to do, unplug everything except for my grow lights for a month? Just to get an accurate reading?

This sucks because the rate fluctuates monthly, so I'm chasing a ghost, I'll never know what the culprit is

Think your maths might be out , I am poor at maths but have come to a figure of around 9 dollars a month for 174 watts. cost per day ÷ KWH =0.136 DOLLARS , so a Kwh = 14 cents ( rounded up) but you don't use 1000 watts an hour , so to find this out its 14 cents × 0.174 watts = 2.4 cents an hour , so per day = 29 cents a day about 9 dollars a month, could be wrong and if so I've worked mine out wrong too

Here, I forgot to include the link to the calculator. http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electri ... ulator.htm

A lot of places charge your electricity based on usage tiers or charge based on "buckets" of energy. Like your first 0-1000 kw is a certain charge, and then from there 1001-2000 is an increased charge (not actual numbers, just an example). You would have look at your bill to know what your charges are based on.

If you really want to find out the cost of your appliances, go buy a kill-a-watt meter (google it). Also, if you want to be more energy conscious, put more of your appliances on power strips and turn off the power strip when you're not using them. This is generally known as "vampire power" because a lot of appliances still draw electricity when they are in standby mode.

So I looked on the back of the bill, and found next to "energy" 1663 @ 0.090964
The price was 151.27

So I multiplied that and it came to that number, 151.27

So back my equation

Cost of electricity( 0.09) x hours in a month (360, 12 hours a day) x watts in Kwh (0.174)

E Q U A L S 5.64 cents a month, or 68 a year.

CHECK MATE!

anyone see a fla2, I think I got her this time
