How do you guys keep your large nepenthes from falling over? I currently have two orchid stakes zip tied to parts of the pot and the nep stalk - it's precarious, but better than the nep jumping out of the pot (the pots nice and heavy but the roots are growing across the surface of the media, not down into the pot) and spilling pitcher gunk all over.

Looking for some ideas. Thanks.

If the roots arent going down into the pot, try kind of repotting it, so that the roots are lower down into the pot.

I suppose it depends on how heavy things are but can you use the clips that come with phal orchids to hold the nep instead of a zip tie? Im wondering if a zip tie may prove to be too tight in time and damage your plant.

I was worried about that as well but it's way too heavy (and thick) for an orchid clip.

I repot it into that pot last night, I could have buried it down to weight down the roots, but I didn't want to bury the basals.

These are the pitchers so you can get some perspective on the size.

I have read about some people using a trellis, but doesn't it need to be vining to actually grow on to it?

Thank you. IV stands not a bad idea... :D I will look into some sort of pole with a round base and have it come up through the pot or something.

I would tie some orchid wire or string off the shelf above then loosely around the stem to hold the plant upright, that's what I do with floppy neps

Got any pictures of it growing on your tree? I'd really like to see it! :)

They make these bamboo ladders for orchids - basically a trellis about two feet tall. I use twist ties to tie down the vine and the bigger pitchers, just to keep it from becoming a mess.
