So I accidentally sunburned all my flower stalks after they'd gotten fairly developed (oops!). I ended up cutting them all and planting them. Now at least 2 have developed false vivipary near where the burned buds were! ImageImageImage

I had no idea they do this if clipped late! Lol!

EDIT: Incidentally, all three of the stalks that did this, were from Pink Venus plants. :)

Oh if you clipped it then it's not false vivipiary lol it's just a clone :p

False vivipiary is when there are plantlets on the still attached living stalk

Except the stalks *are* still alive: they haven't wilted yet. The plants aren't growing from the base of the stalk, they're growing from where the flower buds are/were. The flower buds had gotten sunburned and thus weren't going to open, so I clipped them and planted the stalks, hoping for strikes, and with these three, they started growing traps up where the flower buds are.

False vivipiary usually starts at the bottom of the stalk but can also grow at the same time as flower buds but I don't think they would only start growing after it was cut so I do believe that that is a strike, but I could be wrong

Strikes occur at the base of the cutting where it's in contact with the media. Pretty semantic argument, but I'd call it false vivipiary.

I think its just a regular cutting that striked as well :) I have a flower stalk cutting and it's growing little traps in the middle of the stalk and at the base, but I wouldn't exactly call that false vivipiary...just a strike :)

Or can you cause a strike to occur on the attached flower stalk with a small Cut?
