Hi thinking of getting a water butt, but am worried that if I collect off the roof that it may pick up some contaminants from the gutters. Or if I filter it before would it be ok?

Another option is to collect the rain off the shed but the birds do like to perch there so again worried about contamination.

I know if in the wild they would get things like bird droppings but having always been given deionized water iam not sure if it would harm plants.

If I do get a water butt should I slowly introduce the plants to rain water not to shock the plants or not bother?

Any help would be great thank you.

Rain water is pretty low in ppm and clean after 15 minutes of normal rain. 15 minutes is good enough to wash away the acidity in the environment and probably your gutter or shed.

You can water directly to the plants as it is very low in minerals and and clean.
