It's not good for the plant. Many people allow it to grow because they like how it looks. Others remove it every time they repot as it can overtake small plants. It's really up to you, if they were my pots I would try to keep the carpet moss out.

I used to let the moss grow in mine, and it didn't seem to be hurting the plants, but then birds started digging them up, I guess looking for insects. So now I put white rocks on top of the soil, leaving enough space for the VFT clumps to spread a little, and that seems to discourage the birds. If moss grows between the rocks, I still let it grow, though. I'd be surprised if it does any harm to established plants, but I can see that it might compete with seedlings for space.
