if u want to get seedlings from a flower do u need to get some of the white stuff on the bottom???

If you want seedlings the first thing you need are seeds ;) If you go that route you're going to need to pollinate (probably by hand) the flower and wait for your seeds. Then you'll need to germinate them and wait until they grow (I hear it takes quite a while).

If you're referring to getting a plantlet by cutting and planting the flower stalk, no you do not need to get any of the rhyzome. Just cut the flower stalk as low as you can without damaging any of the other leaves and you should be fine.
