A few weeks ago I got a new set of lights--T5HO 4 foot 4 bulb fixtures to be exact. Almost immediately after I put the lights over my plants, I noticed some of the leaves of some of my South American sundews that I had also repotted recently were getting fried. I bagged them back up and raised the lights too. The T5HOs also seem to produce an extreme amount of heat, something I was hoping to avoid. Normally it isn't such a big problem, because we get an okay temp drop at night. However, over the past week or so the lowest temps we've gotten have been in the 70s, and I don't think that's good for the plants after a day in the mid to high 80s. Of course my first move would be to raise the lights: they're about maybe 10 inches off the plants right now. If I raise the lights will it be to dim for them? How far can I raise the lights?

Here's my growing setup:
