My local Zoo (and one of the largest mid-sized zoos in the US, over a million visitors a year, blah blah) has a WONDERFUL botanical gardens. However, I never saw VFTs. I contacted the president, spoke with plant registrar, and then the botanicals director and arranged to donate about 18 VFTs to the zoo. They were ecstatic! They opened up a children's area last year and had plans to add my VFTs in there. They kept them in the nursery over the winter (I told them to go ahead and plant them outside). Anyways - here they are in the "Frog Pond" area of "Waterfall Junction." After I took this picture I emailed them and said they needed to weed it before the weeds overgrew the VFTs
Last year I noticed something very interesting about a few of my FTS Maroon Monsters. They had double traps on one leaf! I later found out that this is an anomoly that can happen with any VFT at times. Man, that would have been cool if it was stable - Do I hear a Dionaea Muscipula "Medusa"
