Fireworks are legal in our country and its a common occurance for people to loose fingers from having them go off in their hands.

Yep, they are talking about fireworks. Some people are careless and get hurt using them and end up losing fingers or entire hands.
I guess its not a joke exactly,more of a humorous reminder to be careful. Hope I put that correctly.

Oh. Well in my country they are legal too but we pretty much always use a fuse and light it from a little distance so it doesn't blow up in our faces.

We just play with small firecrackers, spark fountains, and cracker snaps. Nothing too big.
