What conditions are you giving it?

I live in Tampa and my house faces South, they get all day sunlight outdoors on the back porch.

This week we are averaging high of 92 and low of 73.

In the summer I'll probably be rigging up some little cocktail umbrellas to block the blazing noon sun.

I also have some sundews that are doing really well too. Plenty of bugs down here to catch too. I think the the VFT catches around two a week. The sundrews catch gnats daily.

^ haha, yeah they are great for heavy downpours too especially for the sundews. They are paper so I have to replace them often, but I got 144 of them on eBay for $8

While it may not be a huge issue, the dye/dissolved paper may be adding solids to your media. Since you grow outdoors and get regular rainfall/rinses, you're probably OK.

Also, any "harm" to sundews from heavy downpours is primarily cosmetic as long as new dew forms. I do have to say that the umbrellas are a nice touch, though
