I was wondering if there are any common traits of pinguicula depending if they're temperate or tropical ect. For example: do most temperate pings have thin leaves? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've mostly neglected the pings and focused on nep. and sarrs. plus some VFT's

Yes temperate Pings all tend to have much thinner leaves than the Mexican species. I suspect this is because, even during the rainy season, most of Mexico's climate would require the Pinguicula to store more water, even in carnivorous form (thus thicker leaves).
