Hey everyone. My heliamphoras have been growing for a little over a month now in lowland conditions. I constantly keep their roots cool by top watering from the top with cold water on hot days or at night everyday. But of course the amount of water in the tray would increase, so the sarracenia psittacina in the same tray would get the water. But recently, I didn't monitor the amount of water in the tray and the tray was full of water. I immediately emptied the tray and washed it. I heard heliamphoras can grow in a lot of water as long as their roots are cool, is this true? I am growing them in lowland conditions but their mix is always cold. Thanks!

It's not quite that simple.
If the water has low oxygen content the roots will rot.

In-situ, rainwater is highly oxygenated and the top down approach provides for a gas exchange in the root zone.

Stagnant or low oxygen content will cause root rot.
Surviving is also different that thriving...
