So live LFS gets dark at the tips when it's in media or water with too much mineral contamination, right?
Is it, therefore, a safe assumption that any media or water that doesn't turn moss dark after a month or so is free of TDS, or does that only mean that it's free of certain darker minerals?

My sphagnum sits at about 24 cm from the artificial lights. It has already put new heads. Maybe should be closer.

I thought that darkening means that it is too close to the artificial light, but if the minerals are involved, you cannot check what minerals are involved.

Try using a TDS meter on the water, that is the only way to make sure, Sphagnum can be tolerant of some minerals. Meters are relatively cheap these days.
