I wish mine would flower so I can hopefully determine if it's actually U. heterosepala or U. graminifolia. How are you growing it?

I have it in a tray of about an inch of water
I am growing them under T5 lights...And I top water flood it every other day...

That's pretty similar to mine, though I don't top water. It actually grew extremely slowly until it reached down to the water, then it filled up the pot AND the water tray rapidly. I'm going to replace my T5 with LEDs soon so perhaps the extra light will convince it it's time to flower.

The person that I got the plant from told me it seemed to only flower when she flooded it. So that's why I top water often.. then I dump the tray, put an inch of water in and start over...

Many utrics that come from Australia or the indo- Malaysia area flower during the wet season, so that may be why

It's an online auction on their website...They have it annually. People donate plants and really anything plant related and it's open to the public to bid on the items...All the proceeds go towards CP conservancy...

I may have spoken too soon. I strongly suspect this plant is U. graminifolia (the two species are frequently confused) but hopefully a flower, and if necessary a bladder examination, will tell me for sure.

Here are two of mine that I really need to divide. I have never seen mine flower except for when I bought one 4 years ago and it already had flowers on it.

Note: the long green stem in the second picture is a leaf from a grass that I have not been able to remove because the Utricularia stems are tangled around it and isn't a flower stalk.

Apparently my plant isn't Utricularia heterosepala. I got if from California Carnivores which misidentified it.

I retrieved a video of my plant when I first got it and I took a screenshot of the flowers so I can get an identification. This is the best image I could get because the video was shaky and was taken by a 3DS which doesn't have a very good camera.

Is this U. smithiana or U. heterosepala?

CC does not have U. heterosepala, only U. smithiana. If you got the plant from there, it's U. smithiana.

The easiest way to distinguish the two is that U. heterosepala does not have bracteoles (the little triangular protrusions on the flower stalk.) U. smithiana is also known to produce purple leaves terrestrially and green leaves aquatically.
