This is a relatively inexpensive aquarium light.
No timer needed. No fans.
Has an automatic setting (which I use) to simulate sunrise to moonlight.
Also has a setting that simulates a lightning storm. I downloaded thunder storm recordings from iTunes to play while on lightning setting. But this novelty wore off quickly.
